Details on Manulot Rapid

Rating of this hike is (6) Challenging

It's a rapid, it's a great mass of water cascading in the forest. What a wonder!! Welcome to Matura, North-eastern Trinidad where this hike starts on a wide gravel road between pine trees.

Walk until gravel road begins to get narrow and is replaced by natural forest. Hike on a gradual uphill to the top of a ridge, then downhill on very slippery rocks. Cross a stream and continue along undulating terrain on the descent to "Matura River". Distance covered about 4 miles (6.44 km).

Change into river shoes. Trek carefully on slippery rocks to"Manulot Rapid". Swim and relax.

Distance now covered -:  6.5 miles (10.46 km).

On departing the Rapids take the familiar trail we took. When we reach back at the trail we took, change into dry sneakers and walk to where the hiking began. A day well spent.
